Pricing FAQ
Yes — the engine is one codebase. Cloud just operates it for you. Self-host has zero feature flags and is the same binary we run in production.
Each eligible organization can create one free nano. The console shows the resources currently supported by the provisioner. Paid nano quotes are separate from this free allowance.
We meter vCPU, RAM, storage and traffic independently every hour and report to Stripe. You see a full breakdown per database in your org settings. Delete a database and billing stops within the hour.
Yes. RedDB is source-available under the Business Source License 1.1, and you can self-host it for free as the database behind your own product — including your customers' data — as long as your customers use your product, not RedDB. A commercial license is only needed to offer database functionality to others: a DBaaS, a backend-as-a-service, or letting your customers define their own schemas or run their own queries against RedDB. Internal tools, development, testing and research are free too. The license converts to AGPL-3.0 on June 22, 2030. Edge case? Email hello@reddb.io.
Yes. Backups are standard RedDB snapshots that you can restore locally. There is no proprietary fork or lock-in.
